Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My employer is (or I am) looking for editors or writers to hire. How can I place an ad on the Job Listings page? How much does it cost? How do the members find out about job postings?

First, look at the bottom of the Job Listings page for information about how to submit an ad and how to calculate the cost. Any employer may submit a paid ad, and supporting members may advertise open positions within their own businesses at no cost. If you would like to place an ad, please contact the webmaster. After payment is received, the webmaster posts the ad, notifies the employer or member, and announces the posting to the BELS list.

Q: I'm interested in BELS certification. Can I buy the Study Guide or other BELS materials?

The BELS Study Guide is available for download through the website.

Q: How many questions do I have to answer correctly to pass?

Because the questions are weighted, there is no way to state the number of correct answers needed to pass. There is no scoring penalty for incorrect answers. At the time of the examination, the proctors will provide the passing and total possible scores.

Q: My question wasn't answered here. Now what?
