AMWA is a professional organization that promotes excellence in medical communication by providing educational resources and networking opportunities.  AMWA-NW supports these goals by organizing symposiums, chapter meetings, and informal social gatherings.

We would be delighted to have you and your peers attend the Professional Development Symposium for Medical Communicators to hear our specialists share recent advancements in the medical communication field and their impact on our business and daily activities.  The symposium will provide a host of networking opportunities and 8 individual workshops covering various topics, including:

  • Medical and Scientific Writing for a General Audience with Bran LeFae
  • How to Get Trained as a Medical Writer with Tom Lang, M.A.
  • The Role of the Medical Writer in Pharmacovigilance with Lauret Ballsun, R.N.
  • Optimizing Content for Effective Clinical Education with Alexandra Howson, M.A., C.H.C.P., Ph.D.
  • Powerful Ways Patients and Researchers Use Twitter with Sally James
  • Sharing an EndNote Database for Medical Writing and Communications Work with Molly Bernard, M.L.S.
  • Transitioning from the Bench to Medical Communications with Candice Willmon, Ph.D.
  • Drug Development from a Medical Writing Perspective with Amy Eisenfeld, Ph.D.
