Announcing the 2026 BELS Professional Development Scholarship Award!
Dear BELS Members,
We are very excited to announce the launch of the 2026 BELS Professional Development Scholarship Award!
Previously called the Executive Council Award, BELS leadership will now offer the Professional Development Scholarship Award, an annual award of up to US$500 to a BELS Member to fund attendance at a professional meeting, workshop, or similar activity.
Eligible activities must take place January 1 to December 31, 2026, and applications are due by November 30, 2025. Reimbursable expenses may include registration or lodging and travel expenses for a qualifying upcoming event, but the activity must be scheduled for calendar year 2026. A qualifying event is a professional meeting, educational workshop, or similar activity relevant to the work of editors in the life sciences.
Selection of the award winner is at the sole discretion of the BELS Professional Development Committee and BELS Board of Directors, in consideration of the information submitted by each applicant. The award winner will be notified by January 1, 2026. Receipts for approved activities must be submitted to the BELS office no later than 30 days following the event. Reimbursement will be processed within 30 days of documentation/receipts being received by the BELS office.
