Barbara Gastel, MD, MPH, ELS(H), is a professor at Texas A&M University, where she directs the graduate program in science journalism. She also teaches substantive editing in the University of Chicago certificate program in medical writing and editing, and she is lead author of the current edition of How to Write and Publish a Scientific Paper. In addition, she was editor-in-chief of the Council of Science Editors periodical, Science Editor, for its first decade. She is the recipient of awards from the American Medical Writers Association, the Council of Science Editors, and the scientific society Sigma Xi, and she is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. |
