Greetings BELS Members!
BELS recognizes and embraces the importance of cultivating a culture supportive of diversity, equity, and inclusion and aims to ensure these values are reflected in our organization and in the work we do as professional communicators.
We are forming a time-limited volunteer task force focused on exploring ways to ensure we create the most welcoming environment possible for our members and to leverage our members’ strengths and skills to foster an accessible, inclusive, and diverse organization. The task force will draft an organizational statement and identify related resources for our members over the next three to six months.
In addition, I would like for us to gain additional insight into topics we can address in support of our growing group of international members, programs that would add value, and also, importantly, resources and opportunities for continuing education with regard to the editing work we do in shaping scientific content for a variety of audiences.
